An expert's opinion

La Boncia is an estate that can trace its wine-making history all the way back to the Etruscans; no small feat! This wine is a 100% Sangiovese, fermented and aged in steel vats to fully express the grape variety itself, producing an elegant, fruity and easy to drink wine. Full of class and so moreish.... we'll have some more, please!

Jean-Michel Deluc. Head Sommelier of Petit Ballon.
The estate

Bindi Sergardi

Wine is a family business here, and in this Chianti estate, it's been that way for 23 generations! The women in the family have been the driving force behind the estate and that looks set to continue, with Alessandra's daughter set to take over in the coming years. The combination of soil, altitude, climate and passion for Sangiovese here set this estate apart, and we're delighted to share this wine with you all.

  • Eye The wine has a ruby colour, already softening towards garnet towards the rim as Sangiovese typically does. The focus is on deftness rather than concentration here.

  • Nose On the nose the aromas are dominated by bright, red cherries, raspberries and a touch of mint and liquorice.

  • Mouth On the palate the fruity core of the wine comes through strongly, yet still remains delicate and fresh, even with the deliciously crunchy tannins!
