Gewurztraminer regains its freshness with Pfister!

  • The estate

    Domaine Pfister

Domaine Pfister was founded in 1780 in Dahlenheim, a wine village located 20 km west of Strasbourg. This northern aspect in the vineyards of Alsace gives wines a unique style, with a clear focus on elegance and finesse. Mélanie Pfister took over the reins in 2008, after studying as an agronomist in Bordeaux and oenologist in Dijon. She represents the eighth generation of vine growers, and importantly, the first woman of the lineage to take control of the estate.

  • Jean-Michel Deluc says

Gewurztraminer is a love-it-or-hate-it grape variety. Recognised by everyone from the other side of the room, as notes of roses and lychees practically jump out of the glass, and the real difficulty is getting the right balance between sweetness and freshness. Melanie Pfister manages this with ease, creating a wine with subtle flavours, refreshing acidity and a lovely mineral finish. I suspect this wine will convince more than a few people of the grapes potential!
