Mineral and elegant; the finesse of Sancerre!
Jean-Michel Deluc Head Sommelier of Le Petit Ballon
  • The estate

    Domaine Fouassier

The Fouassier family is one of the oldest families in Sancerre, and they work with the utmost respect for the land of their ancestors. As a result, 75% of their work is completely manual and labour intensive. Their signature style is a mineral, pure fruited Sauvignon Blanc but they also produce some elegant, light red wines. Whichever wine you taste, you're sure to fall in love with the estate!

  • Jean-Michel Deluc says

Under the label 'François Le Saint', the Fouassier family, one of the oldest in the region of Sancerre, creates wines that reflect the nature of Sancerre more than any other. Organic viticulture over limestone soils, no use of oak and limited yields results in a pure, mineral expression of Sauvignon Blanc. This wine is more about finesse and elegance than sheer power or exuberance; it's pure, fresh nature makes this an ideal wine to pair with something clean and simple, such as fresh fish.

  • Tasting

    • Eye : The wine is pale gold with subtle, silver highlights. Fresh and elegant.
    • Nose : The nose is delicate and fragrant, with notes of citrus, white flowers and white fruits. The signature chalky, dry minerality comes after some time in the glass.
    • Mouth : On the palate there is some citrus zest, white fruit and floral flavours. Dry, refreshing and very long on the finish. A delicious Sancerre!
