    Domaine Sarrabelle

Legend has it that the source of Sarrabelle, the spring near the medieval Château de Montaigut, was a trysting place for the lovers of the beautiful Yolande. Its name comes from the Occitan word "sarro-bello", to hold one's beloved in one's arms... The château was destroyed during the Albigensian Crusade and only the foundations remained. The Chapelle de Montaigut was later erected on the site. Today, Laurent and Fabien Caussé (the 8th generation of growers on the domaine) have given the name of this spring to their wines. Traditional wines, vins de pays and fine wines, like the Cuvée Prestige that we are offering, the Saint André and also the Mauzac de Sarrabelle. A continuous programme of research with respect for traditional agricultural methods.

  • Jean-Michel Deluc says

Gaillac is for me a rather endearing appellation. It may be the oldest French wine, but it is the exclusive grape varieties and different styles of wine that I like. Here, the cuvée In Sarra perfectly illustrates the purpose with the assembly of Mauzac, the En of the El and the very bordelaise muscadelle. A hilly terroir beautifully located on the banks of the Tarn. Gluttony and freshness are key here
