    Château de Jau

Located in the east Pyrenees, Château de Jau is run by the Dauré family. The Dauré brothers, Jean and Bernard, were pioneers in wine tourism setting up the first winery restaurant in the 1970’s. Today, their children are carrying the torch adding a resolutely modern touch with a great deal of creativity. The labels are fabulous, featuring animals and would be great for collectors.

  • Jean-Michel Deluc says

The quality of the Cuvée Première comes as no surprise to me, yet it’s not really known to the general public. I used to serve this Côtes-du-Roussillon when I had a wine bar in Paris; it was one of my best-sellers and one of my hidden gems at the time. I’m delighted to find this château in such good shape today. I’d like to say a big thank-you to the Dauré family, and to Estelle in particular, for giving this appellation the recognition it deserves well before everyone else. Grapes: Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Grenache

    • Ideal for : Dinner
    • Eye : Wine with a luminous ruby colour over gentle nuances tending towards the purple of youth. Now with an attractive colour.
    • Nose : The nose has a palette that plays on notes of very ripe red fruits and an oriental connotation with hints of the aromas of garrigue.
    • Mouth : The attack is smooth, carried by a fruity and meaty structure with soft tannins and a touch of spice.
