An expert's opinion

I am delighted to present this estate after discovering it twenty years ago. What I like at Château Sainte Michelle is the marriage of tradition and modernity. 2015 was a hot year in the region, but the cool nights and the nearby Cascade Mountains helped to provide a perfectly balanced wine. The Burgundy vinification makes this a gourmet and complex chardonnay. A delicate and charming wine

The estate

Château Sainte Michelle

The Chateau Sainte Michelle was built in 1912 on the estate owned by Seattle baron Frederick Stimson. Today, the Chateau offers exceptional wines where the white wines are made at Woodinville Castle, Washington, and the red wines are made at the Canoe Ridge Estate winery east of Washington

  • Eye A gold colour with green hues of youth. The wine is brilliant, which translates as a nice freshness in the mouth. The material is quite concentrated.

  • Nose On the nose, the wine is fine and delicate with a vanilla base of stewed white fruits; peach, pear, and citrus. Roasted hazelnuts and butter with aeration.

  • Mouth The attack is greedy with honey flavours, refreshed by notes of citrus and white mint. A very indulgent wine.
