An expert's opinion

For me, this cuvée brings back fond memories of my friend, Jacques Mélac who worked in a wine bistro in Paris at the same time I did. He's a real character who has as much passion for humanity as he does for wine. This delicious wine has the same frankness, passion and a clear respect for nature and the land it was grown in, all to be found in this wonderful blend of Grenache, Syrah and Carignan. Generosity, finesse and power with lots of complexity; Jacques Melac in a bottle!

Jean-Michel Deluc. Head Sommelier of Petit Ballon.
The estate

Domaine des trois filles

A glint in his eye, a mischevious smile, a charismatic mustache; it's impossible not to fall under the spell of Jacques Melac! The happy owner of Domaine des Trois Filles has abandoned his Parisian bistro to continue his wine adventure in the vines themselves. Along with his friend, Jean-Noël Bousquet, Jacques moved to Corbières in the south of France, where he has become one of the great ambassadors of Languedoc wines. As I have been doing my whole life, I take my hat off to you, sir!

  • Eye The wine has an incredibly deep colour, almost black, in fact! There is some evolution with lovely hints of orange towards the rim; a beautiful colour

  • Nose On the nose there is some real complexity with aromas of candied black and red fruits, gun powder, chocolate, leather, oriental spices and smoke all combining in harmony.

  • Mouth On the palate the wine is both supple and velvety in texture, with lots of body and freshness accentuating the spicy, smoky flavours. Delicious!
