An expert's opinion

What are the differences between a wine that spends 100 days at sea, and the same wine that spends 100 days on land? To be able to compare the two wines, we must try one of each. Here we have a bottle that spent 100 days on land. The wine has remained in our cellar in the best conditions. We can expect the evolution of this wine to be a bit slower than the bottles spending 100 days at sea. The colour of the wine has remained fairly similar, with ruby and purple variants. The nose has notes of black fruits, currants, blackberries, blueberries. The tannins are fine, silky and still crisp.

The estate

Domaine Jonquères D'Oriola

The vineyard is at the foot of the Pyrenees, south of Perpignan, between sea and mountains. William the son of the current vineyard manager, Philippe Jonquère d'Oriola, initiated the 'message in a bottle' operation. This is a perfect example of the new generation of winemakers: curious, innovative and without borders, in short everything we love!
