An expert's opinion

Legend has it that wines that have traveled for many days at sea have a different taste to those that have remained on dry land. Decide for yourself whether that's true or not. We teamed up with William Jonquère d'Oriola, one of our dear winemakers, to select an original cuvée to split in two; sending half of the bottles on a 100 day journey at sea, and leaving the other half of the bottles to sit in his cellar for 100 days, in optimum conditions. Here are the bottles that have spent 100 days at sea. Cradled by the waves, the wine has mellowed and offers a frame that is a little open than it's original state, with bright fruit, notes of liquorice and a peppered grape variety. We sea that travel has truly brought this wine pleasure. Try it for yourself!

The estate

Domaine Jonquères D'Oriola

The vineyard is at the foot of the Pyrenees, south of Perpignan, between sea and mountains. William the son of the current vineyard manager, Philippe Jonquère d'Oriola, initiated the 'message in a bottle' operation. This is a perfect example of the new generation of winemakers: curious, innovative and without borders, in short everything we love!
