An expert's opinion

The premier cru parcel of Vau Ligneau is definitely not well-known and is located in the commune of Beines in the valley of Vaux de Long. La Manufacture wine variety comes from forty-year-old vines on the best soils of the Chablis region, the famous Kimmeridge clay. This explains the wine's concentration due to a low yield, with ageing of a third in casks, which gives it additional complexity but without adding a woody taste. A rich, deep wine that's mineral in the length and which goes well with more elaborate dishes. A great Chablis! Grape variety: chardonnay.

The estate

La Manufacture

Benjamin Laroche is from the Chablis region; his family have been working this land since 1663 and founded an estate which has been hailed as one of the darlings of the appellation since 1850. A vineyard worker as a young man, he later worked as a sales executive for several estates, giving him the chance to travel all over France learning about the needs and expectations of the most demanding wine lovers.
