This was a discovery I made on a summer afternoon, driving through the low, beautiful hills of Gers. I came across this property, with its vineyards turning away from the road, and a single tasting was enough for me to fall in love with Domaine Entras! Here's a wine I helped to create; a blend of Tannat, Malbec and Merlot. Tannat lends the structure and grip, power and velvet from the Malbec and soft, ripe fruit from the Merlot. I hope you enjoy drinking it as much as I have enjoyed seeing it be created!
This certainly isn't the first time I've highlighted the excellent work of Benjamin Laroche and La Manufacture. Whilst the mainstay of his work is based in Chablis, he also creates wines using grapes from the Mâconnais and Chalonnais. It was a wine from Viré-Clessé that really caught my attention recently, deep in the heart of the Macon, with the same purity of fruit and frank minerality that La Manufacture have made their signature style. Bursting with flavour and freshness; a wine to enjoy to the fullest in its youth!
