Grape Expectations

April 2018

Our Master Sommelier Jean-Michel Deluc, former Sommelier of the Ritz, has selected you a unique combination this month.

Domaine Pfister - Pinot Blanc 2016

AOP Alsace

Pinot Blanc from Alsace is one of my absolute favourite wines for an aperitif; light, fresh, elegant and ideal for lighter foods. Melanie's expression is exactly the sort of wine I'm looking for, exceeding my expectations effortlessly. Best enjoyed whilst young, pure and mineral. Excellent work by Melanie Pfister and a great expression of her signature style

Château Goutte D'Or - Esprit des Clos 2015 organic

AOP Blaye Côtes-de-Bordeaux

Situated on a hillside, facing the Gironde estuary and benefiting from the cooling, marine freshness of the Atlantic, the Côtes-de-Blaye constitutes the very best quality-price ratio in Bordeaux. I'm delighted to present this cuvee, 'Esprit des Clos', made of 80% Merlot for body and texture, supported by 20% Cabernet Franc for freshness and character. You'll love it!

The Gazette

Celebrating women in wine

Ever been to a restaurant and the waiter automatically assumes that it's the man's job to select a wine from the wine list? In an industry that can sometimes overlook the power of women, we've decided to dedicate this month to our fantastic female winemakers. Every wine in this months selection has been made by a woman.

We've done so not to shine a spotlight on lesser-able winemakers, but to showcase the variety and beautiful products that these talented women have cultivated.

Happy Tastings!
