An expert's opinion

It was in Macedonia, specifically in the Vardar Valley, where we came across the home to this wine; Kamnik Castle. The vineyards are 300 meters above sea level, facing south and near mountains. In short, it has the ideal climate for a vinayard. Made from vranec, merlot and carmenère grapes, this wine is fruity, floral, spicy, chocolatey and well-balanced. A beautiful discovery from a lesser-known wine corner of the planet!

The estate

Château Kamnik

Kamnik Castle in Macedonia is the perfect mix of present and past. The estate's team, made up entirely of wine enthusiasts, has combined the grandeur of ancient Macedonian wine traditions with the modernity of contemporary installations. It's all well and good, but does it make good wine? Indeed it does! You will love their wines that are both fruity and complex.

  • Eye As on the nose, the presence of black fruits gives a fleshy and juicy impression on a velvety frame in balance with fine tannins and liquorice.

  • Nose On the nose, the wine is fine, with charming notes of black fruits, violet, mint and some notes of spices that add to the aeration. Powerful on the nose.

  • Mouth On the palate this is juicy, charming and utterly fun! No pretensions here, just a delicious, easy drinking wine that's hard to keep in the bottle.
