Bordeaux case: A bit of all white!

Spectacular Sauvignon

White wine may only make up around 10% of Bordeaux's wine production, but it's fair to say that when Bordeaux does white, it does it well.

Domaine des Allégrets

Domaine des Allégrets - Cuvée blanc sec 2016

AOP Côtes-de-Duras

An expert's opinion

A beautiful white wine! A ripe, dry and honeyed Sauvignon Blanc that manages to be both serious and fun at the same time; a winning combination! I'm delighted to present a wine from the Côtes de Duras, close to Bordeaux but with it's own style and unique identity. Domaine des Allégrets is the local star there, and this white wine offers a glimpse into the potential of the wines here.

Jean-Michel Deluc. Head Sommelier of Petit Ballon.
The estate

Julien Blanchard is extremely proud of his heritage, with over five centuries of family involvement in the Côtes de Duras, and works hard to honour that history. A combined love of viticulture, wine-making and life in general is his secret, following in the footsteps of his beloved grandfather, Pierre Carrier. These are wines that combine style and tradition in perfect harmony!

Château Hostens-Picant

Château Hostens-Picant - Cuvée des Demoiselles 2015

AOP Sainte-Foy Bordeaux

An expert's opinion

This 2015 is full of charm and class. Beyond the classic Bordeaux grape varieties, here we have a controlled breeding that gives pride of place to this little-known terroir. This beautiful property has elegance and character, much like its owners whose wines I have known for years and whose wines constantly rise in quality. A racy and voluptuous pleasure of a bottle, you're sure to enjoy every sip!

Jean-Michel Deluc. Head Sommelier of Petit Ballon.
The estate

Since the Middle Ages, the passion for wine here has been passed on through the ages, A love story between man and terroir. Yet this easte was dedicated to producing Armagnac until a local boy, André Dubosc, decided (along with some other young winegrowers) to wake up the appelation. 1979 was the year were the 3 wineries of Plaisance, Aignan and Saint-Mont joined forces.

Château Le Grand Verdus

Château Le Grand Verdus - Expression 2015

AOP Bordeaux Blanc

An expert's opinion

Freshness and power

Red wine is one of our great successes, although white is very important as well! Why? Well, in our site we find a great expression of the varietal grapes and our local terroir. There is also an opportunity for modern wines that can be enjoyed with only a few months of age. We have Sauvignon Blanc for freshness and power, Semillon for the light, honey notes and Muscadelle for freshness and lightness. In short, we try to produce gourmet wines; easy to drink, fine, elegant but most all, honest and pure expressions of the land. That's what people want!

Jean-Michel Deluc. Head Sommelier of Petit Ballon.
The estate

The vineyards of Château Le Grand Verdus are in the heart of a protected hilly region in the AOC Bordeaux Supérieur area, between Médoc, Graves and Saint-Emilion at the gateway to Entre-Deux-Mers.
