An expert's opinion

Today this property is a symbol of modern, exciting Bordeaux, producing organically certified grapes and subsequently, fresh, delicious wines reflecting both the grapes and the terroir. It started as a joining of two separate chateaux in 1979, renovated and brought forward by the desire to produce wines with purity and freshness above all.

Jean-Michel Deluc. Head Sommelier of Petit Ballon.
The estate

Château Guibeau

The fortunes of Château Guibeau have mirrored the life of its owner; Brigitte Destouet. Brigitte grew up here, married here and had her children here, so who better to take this wonderful estate forward? The Chateau became organically certified in 2009 and has never looked back, with this passion for authenticity reflected in the wine.

  • Eye A ruby-red wine with hints of garnet towards the rim, suggesting the beginning of a slow evolution.

  • Nose On the nose there's a lot of complexity, with aromas of ripe red and black fruits, spices, chocolate, vanilla and a touch of leather as well.

  • Mouth The delicacy and charm of the nose is true for the palate as well, broadening into flavours of ripe, dark fruits, liquorice and peppery tannins. Lovely!
