An expert's opinion

Here's a well-known name in Bordeaux, owned by the Fabre family since 1964 and ran with class and aplomb. The 2014 vintage was great for the estate, resulting in a wine that's well balanced between finesse and fruit and between sweetness and complexity. The estate itself is sandwiched between two of the great names in Bordeaux, Pauillac and St.Estephe, so it comes as no surprise to see top quality wine is the result!

Jean-Michel Deluc. Head Sommelier of Petit Ballon.
The estate

Château Lamothe-Cissac

Domaines Fabre own 92 hectares of vineyards spread over seven different properties. A young farmer at the time, Vincent Fabre bought this 30-hectare property in the Haut Médoc appellation in 1982. He's since taken over the rest of the estates from his father, and is driving towards sustainable viticulture in all of them, helped by his wife, Florence.
