An expert's opinion

Michel Gendrier and Domaine des Huards are a danger to my wallet; everytime they release a wine, I have to buy it! Always unique, this cuvee from Cheverny is fruity and charming, yet with crunchy tannins, as a result of the unusual blend of Pinot Noir, Gamay and Cabernet Franc. This is a wine to drink whilst it's young to get the full experience!

Jean-Michel Deluc. Head Sommelier of Petit Ballon.
The estate

Domaine des Huards

The first Gendrier set his bags down at Domaine des Huards all the way back in 1846, followed by seven generations of his now famous family. Today, the estate is managed using both organic and biodynamic principles, and each variety is afforded the maximum respect and care. They're also one of very few estates producing excellent wine from Romorantin, a rare white grape of the region!

  • Eye A light, delicate ruby colour invoking images of freshness and transparency.

  • Nose On the nose this is fine, mineral and fruity; incredibly aromatic for a youthful wine. Strawberry and raspberry fruit with a lovely mineral backbone.

  • Mouth On the palate, this is light and fruity; dangerously drinkable! Crisp tannins and racy acidity make for a refreshing wine that will be excellent with food
