An expert's opinion

Here's a new project from the Jonquères d'Oriola family, located in one of my favourite appellations in the south of France: Collioure. "Altitude 231 metres" pays tribute to the rugged, unforgiving nature of this appellation where vines are nurtured on steep slopes facing the sea. This cuvee, produced from Mourvèdre, Grenache and Syrah is a perfect example of what can be made here; a fine and delicate wine whilst still showcasing the Mediterranean nature of its origins. Delicious!

The estate

Domaine Jonquères D'Oriola

The vineyard is at the foot of the Pyrenees, south of Perpignan, between sea and mountains. William the son of the current vineyard manager, Philippe Jonquère d'Oriola, initiated the 'message in a bottle' operation. This is a perfect example of the new generation of winemakers: curious, innovative and without borders, in short everything we love!
