An expert's opinion

It is undeniable that global warming has benefited some wine regions recently. This is definatly the case in Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. The proof is in this white wine; Mont Battois 2015 Domaine Lebreuil. This Chardonnay is full of finesse and delicacy around an aromatic floral frame, fruity, tart and zesty. A simply delicious wine to enjoy as an aperitif or with a light meal.

The estate

Domaine Lebreuil

Domaine Lebreuil is right in the heart of Savigny-les-Beaune, a small wine-producing village 5 km to the north-west of Beaune. It has a population of around 1,500 and the area given over to vines is around 450 hectares. Since 1969, the cellars have been in an old, and typically Burgundian, maison bourgeoise called "Les Guettottes", which is on an enclosed plot of the same name. In addition, there are several parcels of vines just behind the house. The word 'Guettottes' means the 'the last look-out' in old patois. All of the domaine's wines are grown on 11 hectares located in Savigny, Volnay and Ladoix-Serrigny.
