An expert's opinion

Here's a beauty from Benjamin Laroche, who is fast becoming the King of Chardonnay, regardless of whether it's in the cooler north of Chablis, or the warmer tones of the Mâconnais. Here, in Mâcon-Vinzelles, he's producing wines with a fruity, fresh personality and a tense, mineral undertow. The purity of the fruity is enhanced by the delicate touches in the winery, and it's definitely a wine to enjoy right away!

Jean-Michel Deluc. Head Sommelier of Petit Ballon.
The estate

Benjamin Laroche is from the Chablis region; his family have been working this land since 1663 and founded an estate in 1850. Working in the vineyards in his youth and later as a sales exective, he's travelled all over France, learning the trade and picking up snippets of information, all of which now go into improving his delicious wines!
