An expert's opinion

This was one of King Henry's favourite wines, which is unsurprising given the historical fame of Burgundy! The Pinot Noir here produces wines with a soft, charming texture and flavours of cherry and blackcurrant, with a touch of pepper and liquorice. It's not hard to see why these wines are famed far and wide, both in the past and to this day!

Jean-Michel Deluc. Head Sommelier of Petit Ballon.
The estate

Maison Paul Benoit

The estate is run by three brothers and their father, who take great care to preserve the legacy of the first generation of their family who first grew vines here in 1947, near Meursault. A family business, from the soil of the vineyards to the labels on the bottles, and all the better for it! The construction of a new winery in Beaune has allowed them to take control of the entire process, making this a truly home-grown domaine!
